From My Heart, Behind a Long Lens

We are living in extraordinary and unprecedented times right now. As a self employed professional photographer of family portraits (including maternity, newborn, high school senior) and executive headshots/branding stories, the recent shutdown of everyday life has put my normal business at a standstill. Likewise things have changed for every single person in the world right now.

I believe it is safe to say it is difficult and stressful time for all. I am relieved that my two-college aged children are home with us (going to be honest, I'm not always sure they feel the same) and we are all healthy and safe. I am so grateful for the people who continue to work on our behalf: front line health care workers, first responders, grocery store workers, delivery services, pharmacies, and restaurants come quickly to mind.

With my family taken care of, I turn to what I can do for others; a break in the routine of the "new normal." In my business, I make people happy. I actually make people so happy that they cry. That is such a rewarding feeling. I want to be able to look back on my work from this time, proud, having recorded the strength and resilience displayed during this epoch in history. In accordance with the CDC social distancing recommendation, I can document this pivotal moment in our lives by creating portraits for your family that take place on your porch... Porch Portraits.

Behind the scenes of a Porch Portrait

What is a Porch Portrait?

A Porch Portrait is a 5 minute unique session that takes place on your porch or front yard with the members of your family who live at the house (pets welcome) while I am standing at least 10 feet away from you in accordance to the rules of social distancing, and CDC guidelines.

  • I will be in your driveway or sidewalk/street
  • I photograph your family from a safe social guideline distance
  • There is no physical interaction between us
  • I touch nothing on your property
  • You will receive one high-resolution digital file from your porch session via email with the option to purchase more

Sign Up Here

This Porch Portrait Session link will take you to a sign up. When completed, please press send and then I will contact you to set up your time that will take place in the next few days.

Is There a Fee?

There is a suggested price of $50, of which a portion will be donated to the Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless food pantry with the goal being to keep food on all of our tables.

The above is suggested. I understand that many people like ourselves have had their small business come to a complete halt, or lost their jobs and I don't want this to stand in the way for anyone. Please contract me directly if this is the case. We are all in this together, with everyone doing what they can.

Other suggestions of ways you could help:

  • If you can afford a little more, that would be incredible!
  • Gift a family that can't afford a session
  • Share this post and spread the word
  • Purchase a Heidi Harting Photography Gift Certificate for a session (to be used at a later date)

Thank You

Whether you are a current client, past client, or new to my work, thank you so much for your appreciation and support, it truly means the world to me. Coming from a family of two self employed photographers, we know first hand how important it is to support local artists and small businesses, especially during this time.

Be well & stay safe - Heidi
